Ike Reaches the Midwest

Hang in there, St. Louis. Just four more hours of heavy rain. That's what the guy on The Weather Channel just said. Seriously. Makes you want to punch him.

Ike's wrath clearly was not limited to Texas. And look out Chicago. I know you got dumped on yesterday, too, but it's coming your direction next.

My mom's friend who lives a mile or so away just called. The water is inches from their front door! Our back yard is under water and the front ... as bad as I've ever seen it. And it's getting worse. I'm afraid we may be in the same boat as the mother's friend soon.

Cross your fingers that this lets up soon.

On a happier note, the backyard doesn't always look this way. One Project closer chose my fence project to highlight today! This is a wonderful program that they do and I'm proud to have been included.

Well, I'm back to water patrol. I guess I'd better go find the Bible passage with the ark dimensions in it. We may be needing it very soon ...

Hopefully there is no water inside! We have some water that came in through the windows in the basement and the pool is completely full (and is now the color of Mt. Dew Baha Blast). Minor issues in light of those in Texas.

Are you happy that the weather is working out the way it's supposed to? *cheesy grin* KayO

I drove over to the nursing home in the thick of the storm. Stupid. Very stupid. I drove through some lakes that used to be highways, and I hope there's no lasting damage to my car.

Hope all is well at your D*mn House. Mine seems to be okay, tho I'll be vacuuming water in the basement later.

Hope you and your home are doing okay and that things dry out quickly!

Thanks, Sandy! We like it so far. We'll see how it holds up.

MG -- UGH! just glad you guys are OK. And no water inside. We lucked out.

Dee -- Oh, I'm thrilled, KayO. Thrilled. *sarcasm* Hope your car is OK! Driving through that stuff can be ugly. Bummer about your basement.

Liz -- Thanks! Once the rain stopped it made a big difference. A few more hours of downpour though and I shudder to think ...

Hope your luck keeps holding out with non-devastation to your dwelling. Still not very fun to be flooded...

Congrats on being featured! Reagan and I actually walked off the measurements I the ark once. I'm ashamed to say I can't remember exactly, but I think it was as long or longer than a football field. 40 feet high doesn't sound tall enough, but that's what I'm remembering. I'll to recheck those...

Thanks, kspin. We do seem to have been spared -- this time.

V -- I think I'm going to have to get those measurements together and see if there aren't some ark plans available online. :-) Luckily, no rain predicted even through this weekend!

Can totally see you whipping up in Arc in a 1/2 day. I just want DIBS on one of the tickets, man!
