Summer Ends Like It Started

Why shouldn't summer go out like it came in -- and like it stayed for most of its all too brief stint? It's not raining now, but has been and will be again pretty soon. So, no Dig My Driveway. No Pimp My Shed.

Instead, it will be some Clean My House. And, Buy Some Tools. I'm getting ready to make a Harbor Freight run. (They sent me a flier the other day. What can I say? I'm weak.)

Just hearing about the plane crash with Travis Barker and DJ AM. Sounds like Gavin DeGraw was supposed to be on board but wasn't. Lucky him. Reminds me of the 1990helicopter crash that took the life of Stevie Ray Vaughan. A helicopter that Eric Clapton supposedly was supposed to have boarded (members of his crew were killed) -- but thankfully, didn't.

Coverage of that crash is interspersed with breaking news about the hotel bombing in Pakistan. Eight people dead.

Sometimes, life really sucks. Tools will make it better ...

Ugh - have been reading about the crash too - DJ AM was airlifted to the burn unit, Travis taken by ambulance to the burn unit - both critical but stable. They are SO lucky to have lived. I hope they are not burned terribly as burn recovery is so horrendous. :(

The amount of small aircraft crashes lately is crazy! Very scary stuff...

I heard about the crash from Perez Hilton (shameful, I know, it was a moment of giddy weakness on a coffee-drunk Saturday morning) and Perez was all, "God was looking out for these two!" and I wanted to punch him square in the face. What, God wasn't looking out for the other FOUR PEOPLE WHO DIED?? HE PREFERS CELEBRITIES?? Man, what an idiot.

Grrrr.

oh, p.s. sorry about the rain. :(

Ann -- Yeah, the mother and I were talking about that. If they are burned too badly, they may wish at some point they had died. Poor things.

kspin -- YES, it is. I HATE small planes. Give me a big SOB (like a 747) any day.

Maggie -- Well, maybe he was well-intentioned. To survive when others do not really has to make you think you've got a purpose. And thanks for the commiseration on the rain. Tried not to bum about it and just enjoy the day.

I've been out of the loop all day, but at some point I did hear a blip about some band members being hurt. I've never heard any of their music. It's tragic though.

I for one am ready for Fall. I'm ready for Wear My Clothes: Fall Edition.

V -- Yeah, fall and winter are good clothing seasons for me. TONS of sweaters. But, I need fall to be patient, for at least a few more weeks. :-)
