Historically Speaking

Historically speaking, this is quite a date for This D*mn House.

June 22, 1938 – Young Tom and my beautiful grandmother were married. The mother would join them about four and a half years later.

(This is also the same date of the famous Joe Louis/Max Schmeling rematch, a year to the day that Louis had been named World Champion. The second fight lasted just 2 minutes and four seconds.

Luckily, the grandparents’ made it quite a bit longer – nearly 40 years before my grandmother’s death in 1977.)

June 22, 1992 – The mother and I rescue a kitten from a tree. He walks in for some milk and then hangs around for most of the next 17 years. (RIP Tigger. This is our furry family member we lost in late March.)

June 22, 1997 – I wouldn’t know about it until a few months later (Sept. 13), but this is the day that Ozzie was born.

Happy birthday, little buddy! It’s hard to imagine that it’s been 12 years already.

Hope you like your new toys and we will definitely be hitting the drive-thru at DQ!

Here’s that precious face now …

And then …

Aww! What a cutie Ozzie is! Tigger reminds me of our Sara. Sara is 18 now. We just found out last week that she's in kidney failure and needs a once-a-day fluid injection and special food, but she's still hanging on.

Tricia -- Thank you! I sure think so. ?:-)

MG -- I KNOW! It's so hard to believe. Gave him big hug and kiss from you guys.

MM -- thanks! Passed that along.

Sally -- Thank you! He's my baby. Aw, hope things will go well for Sara. The mother had a cat once that lived for almost 22 years!
