I’d like to apologize again to anyone who got besieged with email over the weekend because of the d*mned anonymous spammer “somebody.” If you’ve been by the blog since, you know that I now have comment moderation in place, so I don’t think it can happen to either of us again!
While I've not had much time yet to do so, I'm also exploring to see if there are any ways that Blogger can help, though I'm not holding out much hope. I’m slowly digging out my inbox. I think in all, the villain “somebody” posted nearly 400 comments. Yes, 400, give or take. It may be even more but that’s what I’ve been able to pinpoint so far.
I’m slowly removing each and every one of those comments. Every. Last. One. At one point, it was posting five or six comments a minute and this went on for a number of hours, mercifully not posting that many times a minute the whole time!
I’ll also apologize because I’m new to this comment moderation function. I thought I’d be notified by email when this occurred, but no. I have to be on the blog to see that I have comments waiting (something I didn’t learn until yesterday morning).
So I’m sorry if it’s half a day before comments get posted! I’ll get better at it.

I use Blogger. I have comment moderation and I am notified by email when I have a comment to moderate.
It sounds like you're going through a nightmare! What do people get out of doing that? Anyway, I wanted to mention that Wordpress has Akismet, an automated spam killer, built in, and it has been really effective in catching spam at my blog. I think individual non-Wordpress people can get it free for their blogs,too. You might want to check it out. Just a thought.
Hey, NV, so sorry this happened to you! I saw those coming in and I was like, "Oh man, is she gonna be PISSED!" I used to get my share of those comments, but they seemed random, whereas this was almost like they were specifically targetting you for attack! Wierd.
Sorry you're stuck with comment moderation now. I had to do it, too, and I don't like it, but at least it prevents stuff like that from happenening. And yes, I'm with ou, I wish it would notify me when I have comments waiting. Good luck!
