I stood on the corner and waved goodbye to summer as the autumn wind blew through my hair and swirled leaves at my feet. It didn’t see me though. It was already well on its way out of town.
After extended summer weather (days with highs near or above 80) mostly filled with rain, we managed to get one more good day yesterday. And then, it was gone. I can’t tell you how glad that, in spite of the rain, we managed to get as far on the carport as we did Saturday. It would be ideal if tomorrow could be just a few degrees warmer than what they’re predicting.
This morning, as the sun begin its crawl up the sky, there’s a chill in the air that I’ve not felt in months. (Nor have I missed it.) It’s in the mid-50s and the wind is gusting up to 35 mph. Brrrr. It’s not expected to get above 70 today and tonight … lows in the 40s. Ouch. My fear of an early frost may not be unfounded after all.
It’s going to be a long winter.

I wish it was that cold here. This weekend I was pretty sure my face was melting it was so hot! Were still in the high 90s down here.
I agree with Victoria... it was in the high 90's here as well; and extremely muggy.
But, this week we are going to be in the mid 80's! So happy about that!
It's windy and chilly here, too. I'm working in the shade today and have long sleeves on. Bye-bye, summer. (sniffle, sob, sniffle)
Fall dropped snot in our laps. Or our noses, rather.
Victoria, Debbie -- If I could box or bag up this cool/cold and send it to you, I would. I'm not ready for "jacket weather" yet! :-)
Jayne -- I know. You and I will have to help each other through summer withdrawal!
Vicki -- Yikes. Yep, it's good for that, too. Hope everyone is better soon!
