DQ Is Open 'Til 10:30

It was hot today. (OK, for those of you in the southwest, I know the 90s might sound appealing. But here in the Midwest, 94 degrees, coupled with wring-out-your-clothes-as-soon-as-you-open-the-door humidity, is awful.)

And I was out in it for about 10 hours today. I did take breaks, and I did spend a lot of time in the shade, once it reached the porch. (I'm happy to report that major progress was made on the porch. I'll have pictures tomorrow.)

I spoke to both Lawrence and my cousin earlier this evening and there's good news and bad news to report. The bad news: Lawrence had a hand injury a week or so ago and won't get stitches out until next week. He says he's OK though and he was actually excited that I bought a fence. As a result, we've tentatively set a date for the fence of July 23.

The good news: My cousin is coming either tomorrow or Wednesday to take down the old fence. Even better news: After I bust up the concrete, he will haul it away. Talk about a load off my mind!

But probably the best news of all: Dairy Queen is open 'til 10:30. (This, after finally getting a shower after being out in the heat all day.) Gimme a blizzard, baby!

Was it Lawrence's midigit?

I worked all night Sunday night, so I worked on the shingles a bit when I got home. It's not so hot at 8 a.m. I had the idea that I'd work on it again this afternoon when I woke up. By 4 p.m. going outside was like walking into a bowl of soup.

V - I think he got all four fingers on his right hand -- including the midigit. Poor thing!

Jayne -- Perfect analogy. Although, I was out at 7 a.m. to put the trash out and it was almost as bad already.

YOU are the THIRD person to taunt me about Dairy Queen in the last week. Sniff. I want a blizzard so bad. As soon as I get back to the midwest this month, I'm going straight there.

Enjoy yours - it sure sounds like you earned it.

Ok, I just gotta say, you're my hero. Not sure exactly where you are in the midwest, but I'm not far from the Mississippi, myself, and I wouldn't have stepped foot outside this weekend if you had paid me! Well, that's not entirely true, I did go to the garden center and picked up some plants to fill in the holes in my vegetable garden, but still...Summer in Illinois is a good time to do projects INDOORS. I'll be re-painting my bathroom next!

Thanks for the inspiration!

I actually went to Dairy Queen last night and got all the way home before it dawned on me that they had ice cream! Do you think that my mind is scattered lately?

Jen -- Sorry to taunt. Would rather share my blizzard. :-) But thanks. I do feel like I earned that one!

Ty's Mom -- Wow! How can I ever respond to that appropriately? I am honored and feel so good to be providing inspiration. I'll be watching to see how your projects go!

Judy -- Saw your updates. Thanks for playing along. LOVE meeting all the new folks in the blogosphere. And you are blogular.

MEF -- How could you NOT get icecream?! Have you had their choco cherry love blizzard yet? It's like our fave cherry Garcia. well, sort of. NOTHING is like cherry Garcia. :-)

I would blame my "ice creamnesia" on the effects of the altitude but I hadn't left for the Mile High City yet :) I have to admit that dry heat is much easier to deal with than our pea soup type atmosphere in the midwest!
