Earl Grey and I we go waaaaay back. And on mornings like this, I'm grateful for the introduction so many years ago.
Earl Grey to me is a tea but it's a tea named for an actual guy, Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey, an early19th Century British prime minister. And quite the dude from the looks of it. (His first child, an illegitimate daughter, was raised as his sister. A year or two after that, he married and he fathered 15 more children with his wife!)
But whatever his tastes were for other things, the tea named in his honor two centuries ago, is among my favorites. (Runs a close race with Darjeeling and these two blends are only slight superior to a good cup of English Breakfast Tea.)
Yes, my British Isle roots -- and they are many -- come full circle in winter.
Time to bust out the jumbo mug and steep me up a cup!
