From Drab to Fab

Granted, we've still got a long way to go.

The cabinets are only just getting started. The backsplash still needs to go up. And the floor? Well, I haven't begun to rip up the old one yet.
But even so, I think you can still see a marked difference between this

The old almond-colored, coils exposed electric range. And the good enough matching exhaust fan with a single light on which the plastic cover always manages to break in the first six months ...

And this ...

The sparkly new, stainless steel and the matching shiny rangehood with DOUBLE lights encased in the metal. (No stupid plastic cover to disintegrate.)

I need to call Lawrence today as it looks like maybe, just maybe, AFTER today, we're going to get a break in this otherwise ceaseless rain. And maybe, just maybe, he can finish removing the center panels from the cabinets. Of course, that means I'll have to remove more doors and hardware tonight. YIKES!

It has poured off and on for the last 24 hours. It's started to get a little ridiculous.

Looks beautiful! Heard about all the rain you're getting on the news today - hope it lets up soon and that your lip recovers quickly! The sacrifices we make for our kitchens...

Looks fantastic. How are you painting the beadboard inserts? Trying to DIY a headboard for the oldest prince. I framed it and need to paint it black. Have no clue on what kind of paint and the best way to put it on (roller, brush, spray).

It's soo purty! I can't wait to see the finished project. I have stalled on my latest DIY project because I don't think I can get much accomplished after work. Ok, I could get more accomplished if I didn't follow my blogs and I quit using facebook!

Very nice! Are you baking a paint tray in there?

Liz -- Thanks! the lip is better and we've gone from wash out to roast weatherwise. Gotta love the Midwest.

Gene -- 'tis! Lovin' it.

cd -- the mother says a brush or a tiny roller. (I used a small foam one to paint the house and it was awesome. I'm thinking we need to use this again on the cabinet doors.) You can use whatever paint you one though since it's for a boy, you might want to use semi-gloss since it will be both shiny AND easier to clean!

MG -- Thanks! It looks so different already. I can't wait to see the finished product either.

Vicki -- Thanks! I'm not sure what's in the oven. We've not used it yet. (the mother says she needs to introduce the oven to the car since they both need a training course to learn to operate!)
