A Happy Marriage

In one of the gazillion email newsletters that I subscribe to (about 85 percent of them are for work) I got this link to a story about Stanley buying Black&Decker.

I think my tool habit is well documented. So, here's a toast to the happy couple. May they keep giving me more stuff to buy for many years to come!

I hope its a good match and they dont change to products too much. I really love all of my black and decker drills, I dont know what I would do with out them.

Here's a little story about Black & Decker and a relative of mine, who is one of the kindest, most decent people I know and a good Lutheran.

He had a sterling record and steady promotions at GE, and when GE sold its small appliance business to B&D, he was given a choice of staying at GE or going to B&D. He chose the latter.

So some time goes by, his work is going well, and he's on a business plane trip with some B&D bigwig (I forget if it was the CEO or not) and he gets told in the middle of the flight that he's being let go from B&D because he isn't religious enough, for which apparently read, not Mormon.

I am happy to report that he got a good job almost immediately.

Victoria -- Me either! Was just looking at an 18v one yesterday. (Mine is a 9.2)

KarenAnne -- Glad for your relative's sake. Hopeful that this is an isolated incident. It happens in business. It shouldn't but it does.
